Work clothes which are not too much work -- that is the concept behind Swirl's latest collection, and also our first complete collection of work attire.
But of course, the corporate look is reinterpreted with a Swirl twist. That means no boring black jackets, no starchy white shirts, and definitely no nondescript plain dresses.
Instead, touches of girly chic and whimsy help brighten a dull work day -- a pretty bow here, a splash of prints there, and perhaps an unusual curved hem to draw the eye.
Colours include shades of blue, such as turquoise and cobalt, and bright dashes of yellow, with a less severe dove grey to hold them all together.
With a total of 24 blouses, skirts and dresses -- all mixed and matched for maximum wearability -- to choose from, the Swirl Girl will stand out in the sea of black suits every day of the week.
To launch the collection, we will be throwing a little tea party and would be delighted if you can join us. We're also offering 15% off the new items for one-day only on that day.
WHEN: 21 June, Saturday, 2pm
WHERE: 02-05 Stamford House
Just drop us an email at shop@ilovetoswirl.com to let us know if you would like to be part of the launch. Do bring your gal friends along too!

Swirl Contest The Swirl Girls are super duper thrilled about their first ever contest. For the entire month of May, they are asking you -- yes, YOU! -- to send in photos of you in your favourite Swirl outfit. Show off how you accessorise your dress, top, skirt, etc, and pose in the cutest, quirkiest, most original way and you stand to win a $100 Swirl shopping voucher at the end of the month.
Just send a full-length photo -- so everyone can see your shoes too -- to shop@ilovetoswirl.com, together with a funny caption and information about where each item is from. Don't forget to include your contact details.
The Swirl Girls are now bloggers too Okay, so the Swirl Girls are like a few years late in jumping on the blogging bandwagon, but better late than never, right?
They have just returned from a very fruitful fabric sourcing trip to Hong Kong. Find out more about what they bought, how much they ate and why they missed their flight home at swirlgirls.blogspot.com.
They have also started a Fashion Diary series, where they attempt to record photographically the outfits they put together every day. It's been so much fun, and they hope it will satisfy the inner kaypoh lurking in their readers too!
So bookmark the blog for all the insider goss on the Swirl Girls and leave some kind comments for them.
Swirl Loves Singapore At Swirl, we really enjoy discovering and stocking independent Singapore brands and labels. There is just so much talent within this tiny red dot. And which is also why we're very proud to be a part of I LOVE SG. The Swirl Girls have taken the pledge, have you? {Just click on the icon above to find out more.}
Swirl at Haji Lane
The next time you are strolling down Haji Lane, do pop by Pluck at No. 31/33. A selection of Swirl's dresses and outfits are now available at the style emporium. And you can even have a refreshing ice cream at Pluck's ice cream parlour after you're done with shopping. Now, try topping that!
Swirl Flashback Party
Remember the good ol' days when a house party meant lots of sotong balls and mini sausages on toothpicks, a mountain of fried beehoon and all the orange cordial you could drink?
How about mouth-watering munchies such as Ka Ka, Bee Bee and that wafer in red wrapper that tasted vaguely of chocolate?
We stuffed ourselves silly at Swirl's Flashback Party when we celebrated our boutique's birthday with these old school snacks on 7 October.
Swirl Swap Swop July We held a by-invitation-only Swirl Swap Swop for some of our regular customers in July and these were some of the treasures that were snapped up. Thanks to everyone who came and so gamely posed for photos!
{Lots of lovely photos below, be patient and wait for them to load please.}
For those who haven't discovered the joys of swopping, here's how it works:
-- Spring clean your wardrobe. Be ruthless.
-- Stuff a shopping bag full of clothes you no longer fit into, fashion disasters and impulse buys. Someone else will love them, we promise.
-- Come by the Swirl boutique on the day of the Swirl Swap Swop.
-- Empty your bags into a giant pile with the cast-offs from other swoppers, who, needless to say, have extraordinarily good taste since they are Swirl Girls.
-- Rummage through the pile and grab those items you fancy. No cat fights, please.
-- Clothes not taken at the end of the swop can be brought home and the rest will be donated to charity. We have donated all clothes from the swops to Beyond Social Services, the flood victims in Kota Tinggi, Malaysia , and the needy in Ulu Tiram, Johor.
-- Return home with fabulous finds. Mission accomplished.
-- Remember, it's all free!
Scroll all the way to the end of this page to check out photos from the previous Swirl Swap Swops. One woman's cast offs is, truly, another woman's treasure.
The Next Big Thing Sadly, the Swirl Girls have not been chosen as one of Fred Flare's the Next Big Things.
But the good news is, two of our dear friends made it! Well done, Kookii:Kooky and Maki Squarepatch. We're so happy for them! Do vote for them here and here or just drop by our boutique to check out their adorable goodies. We can safely say we discovered them before Fred Flare did!
As for our ingenious, quirky and surprisingly useful entry -- the alice band clutch! -- we're in the process of fine-tuning it, so watch out for it!
Not only does this clutch hold your lipstick and spare change, it also holds back your hair. The alice band is made from lovingly salvaged vintage fabric, while the clutch itself is made of canary yellow satin charmeuse.
Swirl in Shiny Squirrel Hooray! We scored a mention in Shiny Squirrel, one of our fave fashion blogs that we just have to click on daily.
How do you say Swirl in Korean? Watch out for Swirl in the hottest K-drama in Korea now, Que Sera Sera. The director loved our girly decor so much that he decided to film within the pink walls of the Swirl boutique and Swirl Girl Evelyn was asked to star as herself opposite hunky actor Lee Kyu Han. Lead actress Jung Yoo Mi even bought a Maki Squarepatch bag from us. We can't wait for the drama to air in Singapore!
Swirl in Flannel and Neet Check out the gorgeous photography in Flannel featuring Swirl's Trixie and Jobina dresses, one of our bestsellers during the Christmas season.
Swirl has now gone international, with couple of mentions and product features in Neet, a UK-based magazine.
Previously on Swirl Swap Swop Some gems we got from Swirl Swap Swops last year and earlier this year. Don't get too jealous now!
